About your hosts...

P.D Hulce and Melinda Parmer have been landowners in the San Simon Valley for several years, and made it their permanent home in June, 2004. On "40 acres of mesquite" off Highway 80, just a few miles southwest of Rodeo, New Mexico, they have seen over 100 species of birds, 40 butterflies, 16 herps, 15 mammals & 8 odonates - as well as yet uncounted wildflowers, shrubs and trees - not just mesquite!

Their home is off-the-beaten-track, at the mouth of Horseshoe Canyon, and as such is also off-the-grid, with a large solar panel farm, 2 wind generators and a gas generator. In the planning stages are several straw bale guest houses, a non-circulating naturalist library and public viewing areas in native plant gardens on the property.
